Job Overview:

Total Grounds is a thriving professional landscape company and is seeking the right candidate to lead a team within our Hardscapes division. The Hardscapes Crew Leader is a hands-on leadership role responsible for supervising and coordinating the day-to-day activities of a Hardscapes crew. The role involves leading a team in the execution and installation of various outdoor elements, such as patios, walkways, retaining walls, and other hardscape elements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership:

    • Lead and motivate a crew of hardscape installation technicians.

    • Assign tasks and responsibilities to crew members.

    • Provide guidance and training to ensure quality workmanship.

    • Display professionalism at all times representing the brand and the business to clients, subcontractors and team members at all times. 

  • Project Execution:

    • Oversee the on-site installation of hardscape elements according to design plans.

    • Coordinate with the project manager to ensure timely and efficient project completion.

    • Monitor progress and adjust work assignments as necessary to stay on target. 

  • Quality Control:

    • Inspect work regularly to ensure that it meets Total Grounds quality standards.

    • Address and resolve any issues or deficiencies promptly.

    • Uphold safety standards and enforce proper work practices.

  • Material and Equipment Management:

    • Coordinate the delivery and use of materials on-site.

    • Ensure that equipment and tools are in good working condition with regular inspections. 

    • Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs.

  • Communication:

    • Maintain clear communication with the PM, crew members, clients and other stakeholders.

    • Report progress, challenges, scheduling, and any deviations from the project plan to relevant stakeholders.

  • Problem Solving:

    • Identify and address challenges that arise during construction. Examples may include equipment breakdown, subcontractor issues, weather, or accidents.

    • Use analytical skills to propose and implement solutions using best practices and proper allocation of resources to ensure project success.

    • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.

    • Resolve issues that may arise during the course of the project.

    • Conduct regular inspections to identify and address any issues promptly both during and prior to beginning site projects. 

  • Safety:

    • Enforce safety protocols and ensure that all crew members adhere to safety regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in hardscapes or construction, with a focus on leadership roles.

  • Experience in estimating material cost, labor, and time.

  • Knowledge of hardscape installation techniques, materials, and tools.

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of how to operate equipment pertaining to industry.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction plans.

  • Familiarity with safety regulations and practices.

  • Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labor as needed.

  • Schedule flexibility to meet demand and hours required to complete assigned projects in time.

  • Familiarity with relevant software and tools for hardscapes. Willingness to learn software programs built by Total Grounds and relevant industry programs.
