Total Grounds is a thriving professional landscape company and is seeking the right candidates to join our Maintenance team. The fine gardeners core responsibilities will be to maintain our customer's properties to the highest standards through tasks such as planting, pruning, weeding, and grooming plants. As part of the Maintenance Division, the fine gardener will be deployed to assist in maintaining seasonal maintenance contracts, as well as plant installation projects across all our divisions. Seasonal fine gardening responsibilities run from April through October. Seasonal, weekly, and daily start times will be weather dependent and may fluctuate based on conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

Garden Maintenance - The primary responsibility of a fine gardener is to maintain the appearance and health of gardens to the highest standards. This includes tasks such as planting, pruning, weeding, and deadheading flowers for optimal aesthetic appeal.

Seasonal Planting and Design - Often involved in seasonal planting and design activities by arranging plants to create visually stunning displays that evolve throughout the year.

Soil Care and Fertilization - Understanding soil health and fertility is essential for maintaining lush, vibrant gardens. Fine gardeners amend soil as needed, and apply appropriate fertilizers to promote plant growth and vigor.

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) - Employ IPM techniques to manage pests and diseases in a sustainable manner, minimizing the use of chemical pesticides.

Pruning and Training - Pruning is an essential aspect of fine gardening, shaping plants for optimal growth and aesthetic appeal. Fine gardeners skillfully prune trees, shrubs, and vines to maintain their natural form, promote flowering, and enhance overall plant health.

Garden Restoration and Renovation- involved in restoring or renovating existing gardens to improve their overall appearance and functionality. This may involve rejuvenating overgrown landscapes, updating planting schemes, or redesigning garden elements to better complement the surrounding architecture.

Execute Planting Plans - collaborate with coworkers on design layouts for softscapes projects and plantings.

Spring / Fall Cleanup & Mulching - work together with team members to prepare properties for seasonal transition to and from winter.

Snow Operations - Seasonally operate a plow truck, loader or be part of sidewalk crew during winter season. Assist with executing off season punch lists during winter months.

Preferred Qualifications:

1+ Years fine gardening experience and plantbase knowledge preferred

Ability to read and follow instructions for planting plans

Knowledge of landscaping equipment and techniques.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.

Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in landscaping or related fields is a plus.
