Job Overview: The Snow Operations Manager at Total Grounds will play a pivotal role in overseeing snow operations, ensuring safety compliance, and coordinating training programs for new hires and ongoing professional development. Reporting directly to the Director of Field Operations, this role will collaborate with various divisions to streamline snow removal processes, manage safety protocols, and enhance employee training. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, organizational, communication skills, and the ability to quickly pivot and adapt plans during storms. This role requires clear and effective communication with customers, snow route managers, and employees to ensure seamless operations and timely responses to changing weather conditions. The candidate must demonstrate the capability to communicate quickly, clearly, and effectively, maintaining strong relationships between all stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Monitor weather conditions and coordinate snow removal operations.

Strategize and allocate resources for snow events, including operators, shovel crews, drivers, and equipment.

Communicate start times and updates to team members and customers.

Monitoring active storms to assess any needed changes that dictate real-time adjustments to the plan and communicate these changes, quickly and efficiently.

Manage emergency calls and on call schedules.
-
Manage winter materials, equipment, and supplies procurement and maintenance.
-
Manage pre- and post-season property preparations including staking, creating snow maps, remote barrels and assessing snow season damage.

Ensuring quality control during and after storms.

Determine seasonal hire needs based upon capacity; interview and hire all seasonal employees.

Develop and implement snow training programs for employees and seasonal hires.

Collaborate with division managers to ensure equipment readiness and optimal condition.

Assist in developing and managing snow removal routes based on assigned areas.

Approve time and storm log records of all snow team members in a timely manner for appropriate payroll and billing.

Renewal of contracts, and regular customer check-ins at least twice a season.

Learn and maintain best practices in Aspire and other required technologies, while being a resource for all team members in the division to utilize all necessary platforms.

Provide feedback to management/team members on performance in the Snow Division.
Summer Maintenance Account Management Responsibilities:

Collaborate with Maintenance Division Manager

Manage client accounts for summer maintenance services.
-
Coordinate with clients at least two times a season to check in on quality/expectations. Increase based on clients’ need and feedback.

Work to understand clients’ specific needs, preferences, and budgetary constraints.

Conduct regular site visits and inspections to assess the quality of work and address any issues or concerns from customers promptly to maintain customer satisfaction.

Collaborate with internal teams, such as operations, scheduling, and billing, to ensure smooth service delivery and billing accuracy.

Identify opportunities for upselling or cross-selling additional services to existing clients.

Support the Maintenance Division Manager roles as needed.
Qualifications:
-
High school diploma or equivalent.
-
Experience in snow operations or similar role.
-
Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
-
Commercial plowing experience.
-
Strong knowledge of operational safety regulations and procedures.
-
Ability to operate various types of heavy machinery safely and efficiently.

Ability to perform manual labor in outdoor environments.
-
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
-
Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions closely.
